Regal Eagles......
We are very lucky to live where we do...we have the beautiful Wasatch Mountains to the east of us....and the Great Salt Lake directly to the west of us. The Farmington Bay Bird Refuge is part of the Great Salt Lake...a small inlet of water where 100's of species of birds migrate to yearly, and call "home"....The most majestic birds that call this refuge "home" from December through March are the Bald Eagles. In the month of February, they estimate that there are at least 100 eagles....and sometimes up to 400 eagles that call Farmington Bay their winter home. This is a two minute drive from our home..or a short ten minute walk...these beautiful creatures are basically right in our own backyard! Today we drove down to take a look with Phyllis and Ellie....we spotted over 25 eagles perched in the dead trees that they love....and we saw many circling overhead....a good spotting day! One eagle was very content out in the water on an old piling....I'm sure it was getting it's fill of "the catch of the day"....If you live anywhere near Farmington, Utah....this is definitely worth the drive to see....how fortunate we are to experience these magnificent eagles so up close and personal! Hope you enjoy the photos!
